UNDP Uganda, in collaboration with the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation and other esteemed partners, has officially launched the Elgon Half Marathon, scheduled for 2nd November 2024.
The event will focus on critical issues such as climate action, biodiversity conservation, and the elimination of gender-based violence, including all forms of violence against women and girls.

During the launch, Olympic champion Joshua Cheptegei emphasized the significance of the marathon, stating, “I want to emphasize that this marathon is more than just a feat of endurance; it is a call to action that we must conserve and protect our environment, preserve our natural heritage, and promote sustainable livelihoods.”
The Elgon Half Marathon aims to unite participants in a collective effort to address pressing challenges facing the environment and society.
