The Government of Uganda, in collaboration with development partners, has unveiled a €13.1 million (UGX 52 billion) project to construct 9 mini-hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 6.7MW, along with a 288km local distribution network. The ORIO mini-hydro power project is set to connect up to 71,081 households and 2,300 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the target areas, significantly bolstering Uganda’s energy access and economic development.
