The Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA) held a pivotal regional event, the Sustainable Horizons Conference, aimed at enhancing the role of Ministries of Finance (MoFs) in advancing climate action across Sub-Saharan Africa. The two-day conference facilitated crucial discussions, peer-to-peer learning, and the exchange of innovative ideas to foster a socially just and low-carbon transition in the region.
The event was opened by Hon. Henry Musasizi, State Minister for General Duties, who represented Uganda’s Finance Minister Matia Kasaija. Musasizi emphasized the importance of mainstreaming climate considerations into policy frameworks and economic strategies, stating that “Our role as Finance Ministers extends beyond fiscal management; it encompasses shaping policies that drive economic prosperity while safeguarding our environment.”
