In recognition of World Tourism Day 2024, the Ministry of Tourism-Uganda, in collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board and other key partners, organized the 2nd Annual Tourism Development Programme Review Conference (ATDPRC) FY 2023/2024. This year’s theme, “Tourism and Peace,” emphasizes the vital role that tourism plays in fostering social cohesion and economic development in Uganda.

During the conference, government MDAs, diplomats, industry leaders and other stakeholders engaged in meaningful discussions on how tourism can drive peace and unity across the region. The Minister of Finance, Hon. Matia Kasaija highlighted the strategic budget for FY 2025/26, which focuses on the “Full Monetization of Uganda’s Economy” through initiatives in commercial agriculture, industrialization, and expanding services. He underscored the importance of integrating tourism into this broader economic agenda.

The conference featured The Tourism Thematic Conference which dissected the profound impact of tourism on promoting peace and community solidarity, exploring the critical role that the tourism sector can play in enhancing Uganda’s social fabric and boosting economic growth.
As Uganda sets to celebrate World Tourism Day 2024, this conference serves as a platform to reinforce the message that tourism is not only an economic driver but also a powerful tool for fostering peace and unity within communities. Full Details!
