The Uganda Energy Credit Capitalisation Company, in partnership with Germany’s Access to Energy Institute, with support from the World Bank, has launched the Prospect Digital Platform to provide real-time data on sales by Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) across Uganda.
The ESCOs Consultative/Training Workshop took place at Hotel Africana aims to engage shortlisted ESCOs on the RBF program’s expectations, part of the Electricity Access Scaleup Project.
A key focus is the Prospect Digital Platform, which will automatically collect, aggregate, analyze, and display data from ESCOs as they make sales to beneficiaries. This will ensure transparent monitoring and efficient progress tracking, especially in underserved rural areas.
According to Mr. Roy Nyamutale Baguma, UECCC Managing Director, the RBF program will provide grants, subsidies, or price cuts through ESCOs to address upfront affordability barriers for clean energy technologies like lighting, cooking solutions, and productive uses.
During practical sessions, ESCOs familiarized themselves with the prospect platform’s features, including sales capture, reporting, claims submission, verification, and data visualization. This will enable real-time tracking of sales nationwide.
The RBF program is poised to significantly boost energy access and drive sustainable development in Uganda’s rural regions. For Details.
