Earlier this week, CEO Summit Uganda and partners officially launched, the 15th Annual CEO Forum themed “Only One Earth: Our Purpose and Mandate,” emphasizing the urgent need for a unified approach to combat climate change and promote sustainability across various industries.
Stephen Mukasa, Team Leader of CEO Summit Uganda, underscored the importance of combining efforts to draft a verified strategy to combat environmental change, asserting that such collaboration will significantly impact the corporate space. “ESG is a valuable asset that reflects the positive social impact organizations have on the environment and their communities,” he stated.
Shafik Nekambuza, Head of Brands and Sustainability at Next Media, re-echoed this sentiment, declaring, “ESG is a collective effort for all of us, both individually and within our organizations, because we all share the Earth.” He also added that ESG is mandatory for all of us, regardless of the company or industry we’re in, citing efforts like the 15 million tree planting campaign and more, spearheaded by his organization.
Lawrence Mutumba, Investment Manager for Financial Services Development at Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi), added, “We focus on providing green and sustainable financing to farmers, and we are glad to be part of the Annual CEO Forum.”
The launch event set the stage for the forum, which is slated to take place on September 13, 2024, at Mestil Hotel.
As the world grapples with pressing environmental issues, this forum aims to facilitate an ongoing dialogue among corporate leaders on effective strategies to address global challenges.
