NFA and LHGG Launch Conservation Education Drive for School-Going Children

Email :15

In a strategic move to cultivate environmental stewardship among the younger generation, the National Forestry Authority (NFA) has partnered with Little Hands Go Green (LHGG) to launch a conservation education initiative targeting primary school pupils. The program was unveiled by the NFA’s Acting Executive Director, Stuart Maniraguha, during a meeting with students from several schools, including Mother Majeri Primary School and Mbuya Parents School.

“It’s crucial to educate these young children now to prepare them for tomorrow,” emphasized Maniraguha, underscoring the importance of instilling environmental responsibility at an early age.

The partnership between NFA and LHGG aims to mobilize and sensitize pupils on the importance of conservation, particularly the planting and care of trees. This initiative marks a strategic effort by the NFA and LHGG to engage the younger generation in sustainable forest management, highlighting the critical role that children play in shaping the environmental future of Uganda.

Joseph Masembe, the CEO of Little Hands Go Green, expressed gratitude for NFA’s support over the past twelve years, noting, “NFA has been providing seedlings, especially fruit trees, for our green festivals, promoting both nutrition and environmental stewardship.”

In other news, this week the National Forestry Authority (NFA) also received law enforcement smart equipment to enhance their capacity in forest monitoring. The tools will assist the NFA in improving law enforcement operations by identifying illegal activities.
